Business Name Generator

Type a word that describes your business. We blend it with curated prefixes, suffixes and descriptors to produce name candidates you can copy instantly.

About the Business Name Generator

The business name generator turns a single descriptive keyword into a long list of company name candidates. It blends your word with curated prefixes, suffixes, modifiers and compound patterns — the same structures behind names like Shopify, Netflix or Lumen — so you get options that sound like real companies rather than random strings.

How to use it

  1. Type one concrete word that describes what you sell or who you serve, such as coffee, plumbing, ledger or bloom.
  2. Press Generate and skim the list quickly, starring anything you can imagine saying out loud on a phone call.
  3. Press Generate Again as often as you like — each run re-rolls the word combinations, so twenty runs give you hundreds of candidates.

Tips for better results

  • Short root words (four to seven letters) produce cleaner compounds than long ones.
  • Try the emotional angle as well as the literal one: for a bakery, run both "bread" and "warm".
  • Say each shortlisted name aloud. If you have to spell it twice, cross it off.
  • Keep three finalists rather than one — your first choice is often already taken.

Example use case

A freelance dog walker in Leeds runs "paw" and "trail", shortlists Pawtrail, Trailhound and Nimblepaw, then checks each against Companies House and Instagram before printing cards.

What to do with the result

Names are generated, not vetted. Before you commit, search your national company register, run a trademark search in the classes you will trade in, and confirm the matching domain and social handles are free. Copy a shortlist with the copy button or save favourites so you can compare them side by side later.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a generated name commercially?
Yes. The names are produced by word combination on your device and are not owned by NovaDevora. Trademark clearance is still your responsibility.
Why do some names repeat across runs?
The word lists are finite, so with a short keyword you will eventually see the same strong combinations again. Change the keyword to widen the pool.
Does it check whether the name is taken?
No. There is no lookup of any kind — the tool never sends your keyword anywhere. Check availability with your registrar and trademark office.
